Why Do You Need a Facebook Business Page?
Willie Sutton, a bank robber in the 1920’s and 30’s was asked why he robbed banks. His response…”that’s where the money is.” I think of Facebook much the same way. So when asked why I promote Facebook so heavily, I say…”that’s where the attention is.”
I will keep it brief. Facebook is THE most important platform currently for 3 reasons. 1) It owns a lion's share of the attention at the moment. 2) It has a robust advertising platform that allows you to put your ad in front of a very specific and targeted audience that is more likely to engage with your content. 3) The cost to run these ads is inexpensive and underpriced when compared with the reach you are able to earn from the ad. For those three reasons, Facebook is still the most important Social Media site for you and your business.
Again, that doesn’t mean we are in any way discrediting the other Social Media sites. While today Facebook is the most important, there is no telling what it looks like 3 years or even 3 months from now. We can’t have our eggs in one basket and there are still tons of opportunities today with the other platforms. That’s why we will focus on three with the hope that over time you can utilize new and emerging social media sites as well.
Ok, back to Facebook. As we just touched on, Facebook is the most popular social media site in the world. For that reason, I am going to assume you already have a Personal Facebook page. However for the sake of what we want to do with your business, it is essential that we have a Facebook Business Page so that we can run ads and promotions. You won’t be able to create any of those fancy ads where you target people over the age of 30, who have been browsing Zillow, who have a doctorate degree and live in a specific city without a Business Page.
The Facebook Business Page is linked to your personal page and can be accessed from your personal page. It will look very similar to your personal page, but it will allow you to brand yourself as a business. You can provide your business info, like website, phone number, email, etc. This is where you will be posting daily in the hopes of creating engagement with your Sphere of Influence, as well as attracting new people to your Sphere.
