You are going to provide different levels of communication to people depending on where the person is in your funnel of knowing, liking and trusting you.
If you just kind of “know” someone, coming right out and asking for their business is presumptuous and kind of silly. It’s like asking someone out on a date that you have never met before. If you ask 100 people, odds are 1 will say yes. However, is it likely that this will materialize into a solid relationship? Probably not.
If you have moved past the “know” phase and you can honestly say that there is a genuine connection there, isn’t it much more likely that they may consider you as a resource when it comes time to buy or sell? I would think so. The same is certainly true if the relationship has moved from “like” to “trust.”
